For Pat, recently widowed, the annual trip to Whitby is tinged with sadness but she is determined to enjoy herself. The holiday hosts Phil and Edna have a marriage that is fading fast and when Phil and Pat meet on the dance floor they feel the unexpected spark of mutual attraction. Despite disapproval from others the pair decide to seize this last chance and share a new life together. The play was produced again by RSC in 2003 |
