A production of epic proportions, Nicholas Nickleby powerfully combines collective storytelling, movement, music and dance and is a true celebration of the actor’s craft. Dickens’ comic masterpiece follows Nicholas and his companion Smike on their journey through 1830’s England. Avoiding Nicholas’s wicked uncle Ralph, along the way they encounter a variety of eccentric characters, including the tyrannical schoolmaster Wackford Squeers and the warm-hearted Crummles Theatre Company from Portsmouth. Meanwhile Nicholas’s sister Kate is facing up to her own challenges as she too struggles to make her way in Victorian England.
