King Henry II struggles to cope with a scheming, brilliant wife, a trio of troublesome sons, a long-suffering young mistress and his day to day domestic problems. It's not easy when each of your sons wants to inherit the throne and the rival King of France wouldn't mind taking it over either. James Goldman's look at life in the Plantagenent court is a searing look at family life with modern resonances.

Press reaction

"RIVETING. Stunning. Exceptional. And then some. Trying to describe Redbridge Stage Company's production of James Goldman's wonderful Lion in Winter had me searching for superlatives. This was a stunning piece of theatre, beautifully executed.....this production featured a strong ensemble that simply shone with talent."
